Prayer Gatherings

Come, pray with us

Sunday Morning – Every Sunday from 9:30 to 9:50am in the boardroom upstairs.

Monthly Prayer Night – Every month, on the first Friday of the month, you are invited to gather for prayer from 6pm to 9pm. On most occasions we meet in the Upper Lounge at the top of the stairs. On some occasions we meet in the Auditorium.  Come and stay for whatever portion of the night will work for you. Sometimes there are guidelines in terms of subjects for prayer however these are not intended to limit matters prayed for. You can pray in silence or you can pray aloud so that others can be encouraged and stand in agreement with your prayer. We gather together to hear from God and to bring our requests to Him.

We need to be a praying people! We need God to break through in the lives of individuals, our church, our community, our nation, our world!

Sometimes it is easy to allow prayer to become just a list of things we want God to sort out for us. That is okay because we are invited,

…in every situation, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6

However, prayer is also an act of warfare.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark world
and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 6:12

Therefore, we would strongly encourage engagement in prayer in a variety of contexts.

  • Every Sunday during, and after, the gathering
  • In the context of Home Groups and Discipleship Groups
  • Informal prayer gatherings initiated and coordinated by the individuals involved
  • Prayer walking

We are also very much aware that prayer is often more fruitful if we spend less time talking ‘to God’ and more time talking ‘with God’. God is a Father who loves to talk with His children. If, during your times of prayer, you believe God has said something to you that you believe may be for the wider church family, we would encourage you to share this with the pastor or one of the elders.

Informal Prayer Gatherings.

In the past we have held a weekly prayer gathering at a set time and place however, increasingly, this has become less workable as setting days and times that work for a number of people, and having a suitable space available at The Chapel, has become increasingly difficult. I’m also not sure that it is the best way to mobilise people in prayer so we encourage you to find 2 or 3 other like minded people and set a time and place for prayer that works best for you.

If you are involved in prayer in a small group and would like to be kept in the loop with various prayer needs, please let Brian Spicer know.

Prayer walking involves walking, talking, looking and praying; listening to, looking for and taking note of what God is saying about and doing in the community.

You can do this alone or you can invite 2 or 3 others to join you.

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence,
so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
