Sacrifice

Giving of our resources beyond what seems reasonable
to remind us of our dependence on God.

In 1 Samuel 15:22, the prophet declares, “To obey is better than sacrifice…” Therefore, when reflecting on the spiritual discipline of Sacrifice, can I suggest we begin with the bold prayer… “God, what would you have me sacrifice?” Or, to reword this in terms of the definition above, “God, what would you have me give so that I would be reminded of my dependence on You?”

While initially we might think of this in terms of giving financially… I am caused to wonder if sometimes the greater challenge for me would be to sacrifice my time. What might this look like for you?
