The Road
The Road reminds us that we are a sent people. We are a people who are sent out into the world. Our faith is to be lived out in the world… in our families, our workplaces, our social spaces, our neighbourhoods and cities.
“The goal is not to get the whole world to go to church.
The goal is to get the church to go to the whole world.”
John Wagenveld
Jesus prayed,
My prayer is not that you take them out of the world
but that you protect them from the evil one.
As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.
John 17:15,18
Unless we spend quality time ‘in the Cave’ and ‘at a Table’ you will not really be ready for the road.
As a church, we exist to extend the boundaries of God’s presence and work in the world.
Collectively, and individually, we are to be salt and light in, and for, the world. (Matthew 5:13-16) We are to serve to make the world a better place. We are to be His hands and feet… and His voice. We are sent to be, and to share, the good news about Jesus.
Without a doubt, Jesus’ invites us into the Cave, and He welcomes us to the Table but He also sends us out, saying,
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Therefore [as you go] make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
