Tim and Angela
The Stewarts are a family of 5 living in the Middle East and serving through teaching, environmental work and team leading.
Tim had been a high school history teacher for ten years, with six years of experience as Head of Department in a large Auckland school. He also has a Masters in Theology from Laidlaw. Tim has served in various leadership roles at the Chapel during the past 30 years.
Angela has interest and experience in the areas of community engagement, hospitality, advocacy and environmental sustainability. Previously, she spent six years living in Dubai, which gave her the experience of living in a Muslim context.
Tim and Angela serve in a part of the world that is in need of peace and reconciliation. Although it makes the headlines as a place of conflict, it is also a place of rich history, beauty and hospitality. Global affairs have led to significant challenges in the region. Some people have become more partisan. Others are open. Support is also needed for local communities who are stretched with the influx of refugees.
Tim is teaching in a Chr_stian school in the capital, which the children attend – Adelaide (11), Louis (9) and Theodore (6). Angela is volunteering with sustainability/environmental initiatives in the country. Tim is also leading the country team, whose members are working m*ssionally in various roles including education, food and clothing provisions for refugees, skills training for the unemployed, liaising with foreign embassies to relocate asylum seekers and children’s programs through the local chrch.
As they continue to grow in the local dialect, their heart is to show hospitality and friendship in their neighbourhood.
